We had planned to go to Baha Mar but they weren't opening on time. With plane tickets in hand we had no choice but to go to Nassau and had low expectations for Atlantis, thinking it would be a commercial, Disney-esqué zoo. It was great in everyway. It's huge and takes a couple of days to wrap your head around. Royal Towers are the most centrally located. We thought we wanted to stay at the higher end Cove but there were no rooms. We stayed in the East Tower of the Royal, requesting a room close to the elevators. The building is huge so if you're not relatively close it will seem like a hassle going to and from your room. We were upgraded to a 2 bedroom suite which was fantastic. I believe all the hotels have their own pools but other water activities are very central to the Royal. The slides, rivers, pool areas, lagoon, etc were clean and surprisingly it was never hard to get chairs at the pool or the beach. Small annoyance that Atlantis doesn't offer umbrellas at the beach. You have to rent them from vendors for $30 a day. Tip: the beach at The Cove has nicer chairs. We didn't care for any of the pool or beach food options. Dinners: we loved Mesa Grill, Nobu, Carmine's (huge portions), Mosaic. Offsite Luciano's was excellent. Skip ChopStix. Staff: everyone was so nice and friendly. No attitude from anyone. They really seem to enjoy life! Others have commented that they felt nickeled and dimed. We really didn't. They gave us plenty of free water coupons and free wifi, small things that made us feel good!
